There was no textbook for aviation marketing. What we found on the market was outdated (written before social media, blogs, and other technological advances) or was written specifically for airlines.
If are an aviation professional (insurance, tax, law, or consulting) company owner, entrepreneur, or marketing professional and if you sell an aviation product, this book is for you.
Many people who are unfamiliar with marketing and sales seem to think that marketing is a necessary evil - an exotic art form they HAVE to engage to sell their product but they want to have as little to do with it as possible.
Marketing CAN be effective, understandable, and accountable!
The book is composed of the best articles from the ABCI blog, as well as some great contributions from Roy Hinds, AV8 Services; Robert Mark, Commavia; Taylor Greenwood, Taylor Greenwood Jet Photography; and Max Flight of Thirty Thousand Feet.
We cover:
Preflight Planning--You'll learn the fundamentals of marketing, the basics of designing marketing systems and campaigns, how to test new marketing methods safely and cost-effectively, and how to set up practical guidelines for your employees to engage in social media. And you'll learn what aviation professionals should be doing with LinkedIn and Twitter.
Takeoff--in this section, you'll learn how to "dip a toe" into social media. We explain marketing on smart phones, iPads and other devices, and discuss the relationship between marketing and public relations. We provide pros and cons for using a pen name or "persona" for social media, and guidance for using visual images for powerful advertising.
Airspeed--You'll learn how to use social media to promote and enhance marketing events. We explain how and why to use a corporate blog, where to find and how to use the 29 great blogs in the aviation industry, and how to find great topics for your own blog. Flight plan to nowhere...
By LownSlow79
I was really excited to receive my book in the mail. However, after the first 15 min sitting down with this book I scanned and scrolled through the few chapters. I was hugely disappointed. It basically is a broad overview of basic social media marketing opportunity's using twitter, Facebook and blogs that most people already using those services could very well figure out.
It became very apparent to me that as you flip page to page you are confronted with useless information, that leads to a sentence statement such as "This is how you can engage ABCI to manage and plan your media campaigns and manage social media within your company".
It is a teaser publication to try and grab your attention and motivate you to hire ABCI. Every other page it seems is a plug or advertisement for ABCI. A person could do much better by gleaning information from blogs and books already written for social media marketing and the apply that to aviation.
Sorry but I would not recommended to buy this book, especially for the price. Its a waste of time and money.
